The Asian Carp is a fish that was introduced to clean up waters. The problem is that these fish eat just about anything, and they are destroying the natural food chain of certain areas. These fish are easily startled and can jump as high as 10 feet out of the water when startled. They have caused damage to property and people when this has happened. People are scared that the fish will migrate to the Great Lakes and cause major environmental and economic problems.
ReplyDeleteThe current solution in place is an electric barrier that keeps the fish from entering the Great Lakes. An electric barrier should also be placed on the other side of the fish. This will confine the fish to their current location, but does not solve the issue of the fish destroying the natural food chain in that area. Once the fish are confined, a non-invasive predator to the fish should be introduced to the area.
